Color inspiration: School maps

Maybe it's the travel bug I caught in the New Year, or all the design projects we've been doing in the education arena, but I can't get enough of classroom vintage wall maps. The once vibrant color palettes, that over time have taken on a tinge of yellow, keep appearing throughout our work. Apparently, I'm not the only one who is into these either. These things are selling like hotcakes on eBay!

We have several that I got from my college history classroom. I had been taking classes in the same room for three years, and the vintage maps were rolled up on the floor the entire time--the cleaning staff just cleaned around them!

So one day I just took them home, and we have "Expansion of Islam," etc., placed around the house. They add a lot of warmth and interest to decor, for sure!
