Badass Bauhaus

Study in color intensity (1922-23) Ludwig Hirschfeld-Mack

Set of stacking tables (1927) Josef Albers

The MoMA is giving us just one more reason we need to open a New York office… Bauhaus,
Workshops for Modernity. Defined by MoMA, as "the most infuential school of avant-garde art, design, and architecture of the twentieth century, the Bauhaus was a vibrant laboratory for redefining artistic practice in the modern age," as designers we often refer to works produced then for inspiration today.
Their exhibit features over 400 works, ranging from furniture design to texture exploration produced during the workshop's 14-year existence, but honestly the website developed for the exhibit is just as amazing. If you can't make it to New York before Jan. 25th at least check out the site's timeline for a little history lesson and some amazing inspiration to get the design juices flowing in 2010.

Oh… Anthropologie…

Why can't everything you carry live in our closets, on our coffee tables and in our kitchens?
I'm crazy about this rich green spread, that combines photos of products, photos of photos of products, with lollipops, Twizzlers, tsotchkes and lawn tools. It's robust, and intimate… I could live on this spread.
They're just so cool…

Sticky Sweet Explosions

My sister has always had a sweet tooth and gummies were her favorite. I mean, really, she's not alone… who can turn down a Haribo Gummy Frog or Worm? No one. Until maybe you see them like this?

Chandra Bocci, a Portland, OR, artist, has created a huge installation for Mass MOCA's exhibit entitled "You Art What You Eat" created entirely of gummies. "The piece expresses the sticky nature of the Big Bang theory and at the same time, comments on consumerism." Apparently she did a Cheetoes and Fruit Loops installation as well. I think they're sort of amazing.
