We are pleased to introduce Lindsay Lehmann, the first featured photographer from our new category, Pink Pix—Design Dish's sister category for photographers. Most recently we worked with Lindsay on our new corporate portraits, but she has been one of Pinkergreen's favorite photographers for years. Lindsay has a unique career as a photographer running her own business in Connecticut and teaching high schoolers photography, doing both full time and incredibly successfully.
Where do you work/What do you do?
I'm a photographer for my business Lindsay Shaw Photography, and I work as a photography teacher at Pomfret School—a boarding high school in Northeast CT.
What's been inspiring you lately?
While I'm seemingly lacking in the inspiration department lately, I guess what inspired me all summer was my son. Seeing things through a different eye, a new eye, a fresh eye has opened my ideas to different ways the world is viewed. Whether it be from someone very small or someone very tall, everyone sees things literally in a different way. My son is seeing so many new things for the first time. Things that scare him that shouldn't and things that make him laugh which we all take for granted. I guess getting a new take on life through him is what is inspiring me lately.
Who's album is on repeat on your iPod?
Etta James, and Ella Fitzgerald. They take me back to a time that was easier.
What are you reading?
Right now children's books and how to be a better photography teacher. Exciting, I know. But I really don't have time to read. There are so many books I would love to read, but the list will have to wait.

Been to any good gallery or museum exhibits lately?
Yes, the Eric Carle museum in Mass. this August. It's awesome, had a great exhibit on childrens book artistry. Original pieces from back in the 20s to current. Including all of the Hungry Caterpillar art.
How do you unplug?
That's the question of the day. I unplug once a month, with an awesome therapeutic massage. I don't do much for myself but that's the best way for me. I guess I can also say I unplug daily with a cup of hot cocoa from the dining hall. It's rich and creamy (full of fat) but completely calming.
