Icelandic Art in NYC - Ólafur Elíasson

We were in NYC last weekend for a friend's birthday and had a chance to check out Olafur Eliasson's exhibit "Take your Time" at MoMA. Two of my favorite things, Iceland and art, now what could be better? I may be biased due to my Icelandic roots, but I do think it's a must see - sensory experience. This week Olafur's waterfalls will be up around the Brooklyn Bridge and will stay through October. I'll be going back for sure so I can see them running. I love the juxtaposition of the familiar sparse Scandinavian landscape with a backdrop of Manhattan.

Bloomies S'il vous plait

We couldn't be more exited for our friend Janet Kim of RSVP Press who recently announced her line of wedding invites has been picked up by Bloomingdales. I repeat, Bloomingdales.
A New York transplant, we are thrilled to have met Janet right here in Boston. Her letterpress studio is right around the corner from Pinkegreen's office in the historic Waltham Mills.

RSVP Press showcases four lines, Vintage, Romantic, Modern and Classic. Each Bloomies bride is certain to find something to suit their taste. I'm crazy about the botanicals in each line, Janet has a real sense of color and her craft is impeccable. Wish I knew her when...

So, if you're a Bloomie's bride, keep your eye out for RSVP Press within the next few months. And if you're a Yolanda's, Priscilla's, or David's bride, don't fret you can contact RSVP directly at sales@rsvppress.com. Every bride deserves an invite as beautiful as these.

boston goes GREEN with celtic pride

Everyone's celebrating the Celtics win today with the Rolling Rally through Boston... We found a couple of cool ways to show your pride:
1: Go stealth with it. Rock a pair of retro Calf-high socks under your work pants.
2: Hardwood Classics T-Shirt
3: "Smoke" a bubble gum stogie in honor of Red Auerbach.
4: The "Believe in Boston" Embroidered Patch will be a patch for all seasons. Go ahead and support all the Boston teams. You don't want to be called a winner picker. Oh wait...

Community Day @ the MFA

June 22, 2008 will be Community Day at the MFA. The event is being held in honor of the reopening of the Fenway entrance to the museum. They're offering free admission for everyone who comes through the "State Street Corporation Fenway Entrance". The MFA has added more lighting (They needed to! The Fens at night... hello muggers). The El Greco to Velázquez show is also free on that day. Good excuse to go.

nervous in the service

I was reading Dwell and came across a spread on Danish collective Nervous in the Service. The group decorated the dorms at Krabbesholm College in monochromatic palettes. I like how the colors give each room its own personality. Don't they remind you of Sandy Skoglund's photographs?

2016 Olympic Candidate City Logos

Ever since the London 2012 logo hubbub, I've been interested in the progress of the prospective Olympic marks. Last week, the IOC narrowed the field for the 2016 Summer Olympic city. Chicago, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo made the cut.

Docs Design Contest

Dr. Martens is holding a design contest! Submit your design for either the 8 or 14-hole boot, and the public will vote for their favorite. An additional winner will be selected by the Dr. Martens panel. This voting business can be very smart. Like Threadless and American Idol have taught us, it's like free market research. :) I'm so entering.
