Voyeurism

"See what people do when they think no one is watching.
The HBO Voyeur Project is a collection of multi-media stories that HBO has built around the theme of voyeurism." Basically, you can navigate into fictitious buildings throughout New York City. P.S. The site contains adult content. Not porn, just a little bit of violence.

Sick of Winter already...

It's almost February and I'm already done with winter. I'm sick of my coat, my runny nose and bad hair days. I think if I owned this calendar by Oven Door Owl|Press I'd be in love with every season because I LOVE EVERY MONTH. Okay, well I'm a little partial to September for two reasons, one: the obvious color choice and two: it's my birthday month. I love when designers use type as image, and this is a great execution.
The designer is awaiting a paper shipment to make more on Etsy.com but if you let her know you're interested, she'll let you know when they're available.
I can't wait for spring!

Typographic Maps

Not topography, typography! I love these maps.
If you're a typophile, try to catch the Paula Scher exhibit at Maya Stendhal in New York (ending Jan. 26!!)

bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do

Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?
We all get that feeling... a panicked sweat that you'll be called in front of some sort of Design Police firing squad for using too many fonts in a project. Or that time you let a client get filter happy on those lo-res images to "make em pop".
Sooner or later, we all commit an offense or two. Hopefully, more often than not, you're on the right side of the law. You edit your work so it effectively conveys your client's message. Occasionally, visual communication strays to the dark side. Not unlike Orwell's Thought Police, The Design Police provide a voice for your criticism. You can download their Visual Enforcement Kit to bring bad design to justice.
I know a lot of design merit is subjective, but the snob in me sometimes wishes I had a sheet of these stickers in my wallet!

OUR Boston

I was in my local CVS last night and came across these postcards. They caught my eye because they aren't the typical tourist attractions chosen to depict our city. Instead, they very accurately capture what greater Boston is actually like.
Gretchen Schneider
and Erika Zekos began Greetings from Boston in 2004 as a public art project in cooperation with Citizens Schools' 8th Grade Academy. The student-artists were given disposable cameras and set out to show their Boston. The students represent Dorchester, Roxbury, Mattapan, Roslindale, Hyde Park and South Boston.
The credit line in the back is simple,"I am Marcel, and I am in eighth grade. I live in Mattapan. This is MY Boston."

Greetings from Boston are 25¢/each at local CVS pharmacies. Proceeds go to Citizens Schools after school programs.

Sweet Stamps

© 2007 USPS. All Rights Reserved.

From the USPS:
In recognition of their groundbreaking contributions to architecture, furniture design, manufacturing and photographic arts, designers Charles and Ray Eames will be honored next summer with a pane of 16 stamps designed by Derry Noyes of Washington, DC. If you’ve ever sat in a stackable molded chair, you’ve experienced their creativity. Perhaps best known for their furniture, the Eameses were husband and wife as well as design partners. Their extraordinary body of creative work — which reflected the nation’s youthful and inventive outlook after World War II — also included architecture, films and exhibits. Without abandoning tradition, Charles and Ray Eames used new materials and technology to create high-quality products that addressed everyday problems and made modern design available to the American public. via Dwell

Pinkeresolutions

Last year, everyone went green. Grocery totes became must-have accessories. Wal-Mart grew a conscience. Suddenly, the hippies are hip.
At Pinkergreen Design, we are all for a greener planet. We think this is one bandwagon worth jumping on. But, in order to maintain a balanced life, we encourage you to also consider going “Pink” in 2008.
We feel a large part of life’s enjoyment is being lost in all of this eco-awesomeness. Go on, order dessert. Walk barefoot in the park. Surely you must have a suitably clean patch of grass somewhere nearby! Take a trip (Don’t forget to minimize your carbon footprint). Relish in a good conversation with an old friend (Please recycle your old cell phone). Fight for your right
to party (Responsibly). For all of our sakes, let’s keep the Pink | Green Movement going for 2008.

Keep an eye out for a new section of our blog: la vie en rose!

Lucky 08

Chinese New Year is coming up on February 7. Welcome the year of the rat.
I'm convinced this will be a good year because the number 8 is considered very lucky for prosperity in China. Call me superstitious, but you'd better bet I'll be buying scratch-offs the eighth day of every month this year!

Here are a couple of fun things:
The Summer Olympic Games will open in Beijing on 08/08/08
Fortune Cookie Necklace from Kiskastyle
Give a little lucky money in these posh laser-cut Envelopes from Design Night
Year of the Rat Tags from Bamboo Village Press
Don't forget to stock up on mandarin oranges!

We have electric...

Steve stopped by this afternoon. He installed the electric today for our new lighting.
Forge… we can see you! Pretty soon we'll be able to send one of the office pigeons for rush deliveries to our friends at Forge Worldwide.
"Steve" the man responsible for the demo and eventual repair of our new office space. Steve is the General Manager of the Lawrence Building, but also owns his own cleaning service, offering electrical, painting and plastering.

Happy New Year!

Welcome to the future home of Pinkergreen! Somehow our current office space is shrinking. We've tried our best to stay atop of the clutter, we recycle, try not accumulate useless stuff, but needless to say, our business keeps growing and our office is getting too small. So, we've decided to move across the hall to a larger space. We think the deconstructed look suits us to a "T" and we're getting very anxious to get in there and trash it up some more!

Stay tuned to watch the progress.
