night of the living dead exhibition

Submit your axed ideas to the Night of the Living Dead exhibition. The only major requirement is that it was, in fact, a killed concept.

Introducting a *NEW* category

Introducing a *new* category on the Pinkergreen blog: Nine to Five.
We'll be posting some of our work in progress. Wooo hoo!

a pittsburghian renaissance

This weekend, we're heading to Pittsburgh for some artistic refueling. Ex-Bostonians Raymond Morin and Minette Vaccariello call the 'Burgh home. Here's the lo-down: Raymond founded Sort Of Records, an independent record label; Minette is a designer at Bright Innovation; The couple co-founded Ray-Min Shoulderware. For some reason, our crew is chock-full o' entrepreneurs. I guess like-attracts-like!
"Why Pittsburgh?", you ask. Well, it's the birthplace of Andy Warhol and the home of the museum which bears his name. Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water and Kentuck Nob are nearby. It has a great scene and you can't go a block without stumbling on a gallery... so why not Pittsburgh?

People's Design Award

Now is your chance to make your design contribution to society. Browse the 273 nominees of the Cooper Hewitt People's Design Award contest and pick your fave thing. I'm hugely into the "Lifestraw" (even though Ryan will tell you that I myself invented a similar product years ago). And the Boon Flair Chair is on Melissa's Future Baby Registry. One lucky Pinkergreen Designer is already a proud owner of the CMYK track jacket is red...lucky.
I honestly think I'd start drinking milk again if I could find these cartons by Capsule at Stop & Shop.
The contest is full of product design, package design, typography and graphic design.
I'm still trying to decide...

Chief Concerns

Globe sports columnist Dan Shaughnessy wrote an interesting article on the debate over the Cleveland Indians' use of the red-faced "Chief Wahoo" logo. Worth a read.
Maybe I'm too P.C., but I still don't quite know how they get away with that one...

Celebrity Scale

I know it's bad to compare yourself to them, but Angry Celebrity Scales are hilarious.

thinking pink...

As happy seeing my favorite color all over the place makes me, the reason behind the splash of color does not. Cancer has touched all of our lives.
We're halfway into Breast Cancer Awareness month... Not like we need an excuse to buy pink, but I think companies have really stepped it up this year. Everyone is going pink pink pink! This is the perfect time to support the efforts to find a cure.

Zen and the Art of Kung Fu

Cool Hunting posted about a new book by photographer Justin Guariglia which focuses on the Shaolin monks of China. The thing that gets me is that for all their action, the photographs feel very quiet and peaceful. Must be all the Zen.
You can find Shaolin: Temple of Zen here. The micro-site for the book is also very cool.
